Memories - Adventures with Rex Wotton.

Not often does one encounter authentic adventurers who have a fearless spirit of adventure and a capitivating sense of fun. This was Rex Wotton, a sailor, climber, scuba diver, and a great sport.  Rex Wotton ran the West Coast Watersports center at Coral Reef hotel, just up the beach from Settlers Beach. The shop took hotel guest diving and on daytime and sunset cruises around the coast. He was an expert seaman trained by the Royal Merchant Navy in all matters of navigation, sailing, diving, explosives, and marine work. Rex Wotton was one of the most enchanting Rogues in Paradise. His sense of joy and sharp wit enveloped every situation. Rex was independent at an early age and often disappeared for days at a time, camping along the banks of Joes' river . He built campfires from coconut husk and twigs and cooked his catch with breadfruit, wild okras, plantain, and edible vines. He ate mangoes, and local berries like fat pork, and sea grapes, that grow along the beach.

Cruising to St. Vincent with a friend at just 11 years of age affirms to his spirit of adventure. He encouraged many other to participate him in capers and notorious activities, making it all appear safe, easy, and a joy. Sometimes reckless, he took extreme but calculated risks.
